–Surf Lessons & Paddle Boarding: As one of the top surfers in town, Hershel, will be your instructor. Hershel has been surfing for over 17 years & teaching surf lessons for over 12 years. He is very well known for teaching surf lessons to all ages & he is recommended in Lonely Planet Guide. This tour is for a 2 hour session, including transportation & surfboards. The price for surfing is $50 per person & paddle boarding is $60 per person. As he says, “you will ride the waves guaranteed!”
–Zip-lining Canopy Tour: This tour is approximately 4 hours long & includes transportation to & from our hotel for $58 per person. They take you into the jungle mountains where you get to enjoy 23 platforms and a total of 2760 meters of cable zip-lines. There are various animals to see along the guided route and at the very end of the tour you get to experience a Tarzan swing & enjoy some fruit & water. Add $10 more with Superman cable. Pickup directly at Physis at 8:00am or 1:00pm.
–Snorkeling/Hiking in Cahuita National Park: This tour is approximately 4 hours long with transportation included for $55 per person. You are driven to Cahuita National park where you are taken aboard a boat for 2 separate snorkel dives with a guide. You are then taken on an easy jungle hike through Cahuita National park to see all the various wild animals the park has, including monkeys, sloths, frogs, snakes, butterflies, birds, and more. Tropical fruit, trail mix & water are also provided during the tour. The operation of this tour is dependent on good weather conditions. Pickup at Physis at 8:00am.
-Horseback Riding in the jungle & on the beach: This tour is 2.5 hours long and transportation is included for $75 per person.Your guide will take you through the jungle and then off to the beaches near Punta Uva. Along the way you will learn about the different species of animals and plants. Please let us know your level of riding experience at the time you reserve the tour. This tour departs at 8:00am or 1:00pm.
–Jungle Adventure Tour: This tour is approximately 6 hours long with transportation included for $95 per person. This tour includes transportation, full equipment, canopy tour, Superman cable, hammock bridge, Tarzan swing, tree climbing, waterfall rappel, walking trails, a lunch box, and experienced guides & insurance. Pickup at Physis at 8:00am.
–Cooking Class & Afrocaribbean Culture: This tour includes cooking class and dinner with Veronica & the family for $45 per person for vegetarian or chicken. Extra $5 more for fish option. This tour is approximately 2-3 hours and starts at 10:30am. There are also options for vegetarian, vegan, and raw food cooking. At the end of the meal you will sit & enjoy everything you cooked together. They use healthy, natural, & organic Caribbean ingredients. The meal often includes coconut rice, plantains, beans, fresh fruit drink, and other traditional dishes. The class is held in Veronicas home kitchen. Minimum 2 people.
–River & sea Kayaking with hike: This tour is approximately 3.5 hours long and costs $55 per person. You will be driven to beautiful Punta Uva where you will paddle your way into the Caribbean Sea along the cliffs & caves. Then you paddle up river through gorgeous rainforest while viewing monkeys, sloths, colorful birds, river turtles, iguanas, and lizards. You will also get to go on a short jungle hike through the jungle to see the amazing views of Punta Uva. A snack of fruit, trail mix, & water is provided. Pickup at Physis at 10:00am.
We can provide you with free beach towels. Laundry service can be provided for the guests for an additional fee.
Transportation:
-Shared Shuttle Transportation: We highly recommend this type of transportation. It is the most comfortable & safest way to travel across Costa Rica. We can reserve seats for you on a private shuttle offered by 2 different companies. The shuttles run to/from San Jose to Puerto Viejo to Arenal and a few other cities. The prices range from $54 to $64 per person depending on the destination & departure times. The shuttles are private vans that hold up to 8-10 people max and they have air conditioning. They can pick up at most major hotels & bring you directly to our front door at Physis Caribbean B&B.
If you are interested in taking a private shuttle, please let me know either the time your flight lands/departs in San Jose or the name of your hotel you will be arriving at/departing in another city. It is important for us to reserve seats on the shuttle ASAP because they sell out quickly.
-Private shuttles depart from San Jose to Puerto Viejo at approximately 7:35 am or 2:15 pm.
-Private shuttles depart from Puerto Viejo San Jose at approximately 6:30 am or 1:50 pm.
–Car Rentals: If you decide on renting a car in Costa Rica, please make sure you are aware of the extra costs for insurance & be aware we recommend you rent a GPS along with the vehicle. Streets are not well marked & roads can be difficult to find on your own. We have a private parking lot for your vehicle for no additional fee. The parking lot is located directly across the street from Physis Caribbean B&B and the parking area & hotel have security cameras on site.
***We recommend you do NOT exchange your money at the airport, they charge a ridiculous fee. If you already have US dollars, you can either use USD for payment all over Costa Rica or you can exchange money to the local Colones at a bank. Most businesses in Costa Rica will take US Dollars or local Colones. If you do have to exchange money, do it at a local Bank. There are 2 banks with ATM’s here in Puerto Viejo if you need directions we can show you how to find them on a map.
